A JVPC grant recipient recently performed Dirty Dancing at their local community theater front of a record audience. The group plans to perform several different plays this coming year.
The John-Vincent Peter Copani Memorial Foundation for the Arts is dedicated to the living memory of John Vincent Copani and all our creative loved ones who have lived with cancer or AIDS. Their untimely passing is The Memorial Foundation for the Arts’ inspiration.
John-Vincent started in the theatre as a volatile teenage actor in epic musical street theater. He subsequently designed lights, built sets, and stage managed productions to develop into a renaissance theatre man.
He envisioned himself a warrior demanding to be at home as he stood at the threshold of life and death. He chose his father, Peter, to be his caretaker during his last brave battle with cancer. The growth experience heightened. The care became compassion. The ever-present, unconditional LOVE became the bonding for father and son. With this living definition of love, Peter clutched John Vincent’s hand as he courageously took his final breath.
Today, John-Vincent lives on through The Memorial Foundation for the Arts as it assists non-profit theatre companies to further their work and develop future productions.
Memorial Arts Fund, MAF, cultivates, encourages and facilitates the work of non-profit theatre companies.
Founded in 1995, the MAF endowment program is dedicated to raising funds to support the performing arts production companies who enrich our lives by bringing the humanities to us through their works, enlightening our lives and enriching our city.
The MAF endowment program provides an ongoing funding source for outstanding and deserving organizations through its Annual Memorial Grant Awards (AMGA) to promote the continuing growth and development of the performing arts.
We are in the process of discovery and exploring the renewal of new supportive sources so The Memorial Foundation and the AMGA will once again be a vital TST program to present the Annual Memorial Grant Awards and reestablish an ongoing AMGA TST funding system. Contributions and new funding is presently surfacing.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE
TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF THE Annual Memorial Grant Awards [AMGA]
In 1995 The John Vincent Peter Copani Memorial Foundation for the Arts began papering the house by distributing free tickets to entertainment events as a way to support the Annual Memorial Grant Awards [AMGA] given to not-for-profit theatre companies in need of seed money for future productions. The dream was to develop a permanent AMGA Theater Supporting Theatre [TST] funding system.
In 1996 the JVPC Memorial Foundation announced in a letter to the Off-Off, Off Broadway and Broadway theater community to inform them that the JVPC Memorial Foundation had selected Audience Extras to distribute those TST paper tickets for the JVPC Memorial foundation in exchange for AE’s support for The Memorial Foundation’s ANNUAL MEMORIAL GRANT AWARDS.
The AMGA has survived giving AMGA to the present, in spite of many trials and tribulations, including a large amount of missing funds previously earmarked for the AMGA. We are deeply saddened by the events bringing us to inform you that the AMGA will be temporarily suspended. As soon as these funds are recuperated you may expect a resumption of the AMGA to exceed the initial 1996-7-8-9 level of presentation.
You may have noticed that the AMGA and any mention of the JVPC Memorial Foundation for the Arts has disappeared from the Audience Extras website as of the beginning of this year 2013 disrupting the ambience between Audience Extras and the JVPC Memorial Foundation for the arts as it had existed since 1995.
The JVPC Memorial foundation for the arts is asking theatres to please apply for the AMGA and/or renew your request for an AMGA as we anticipate the resumption of the AMGA in the very near future.
The Memorial Foundation for the Arts is a charitable endowment program dedicated to the creation of a continuous funding source for New York non-profit performing arts production companies.
Every year since its inception in 1995, The Memorial Foundation's staff of volunteers work hard to raise funds for the Annual Memorial Grant Awards (AMGA).
These AMGA are given to outstanding non-profit theater companies who bring the humanities to us through their works, enlighting our lives and enriching New York.
